Fox News: are they in violation of FCC Regulations?
FCC may penalize licensees for knowingly broadcasting false information.
As public trustees, broadcasters may not intentionally distort the news. Broadcasters are responsible for deciding what their stations present to the public. The FCC has stated publicly that “rigging or slanting the news is a most heinous act against the public interest.” The FCC does act to protect the public interest where it has received documented evidence of such rigging or slanting. This kind of evidence could include testimony, in writing or otherwise, from “insiders” or persons who have direct personal knowledge of an intentional falsification of the news. Of particular concern would be evidence about orders from station management to falsify the news.
I have filed and the FCC has accepted for investigation a complaint against Fox News for a continued and blatant bias and distortion of the news to favor far right wing political agenda.
This is filed under complaint number 10-C00237193-1.
Today after the news of Rupert Murdock's $1 million dollar gift to the Republican Governors, I updated that complaint to raise the additional question of bias given that other broadcasters, when they make a political donation, donate equally to both parties. This is an obvious bias on the part of the owner of News Corp which appears to mirror his bias against main streem Americans and the political left.
Also noted is the 10% ownership of Newscorp by a foreign national, Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. Murdock also bought in to the Arabs media empire to the tune of $70 million leaving me to wonder what kind of influence all this will buy for the Muslim Saudi Prince. This same Saudi also bought a lot of stock in Netscape and Motorola.
There is little doubt that money we paid the Saudi's for oil is now being spend by Saudi's to "buy up" not just American companies but to aquire influence in our government.
I will update this with any further information regarding my FCC Complaint...but don't hold your breath for anything earth shaking to take place...they probably bought the FCC as well !
Don't expect to hear any of this on Fox news however.
Question: Freedom of Speach does not grant one the right to shout "Fire" in a crowded theater. Has Fox's broadcasts about the so-called GZ Mosque led to violence against Muslims? Has this breached the 1st Amendment protections?

FOX executive email requiring deliberate bias and manipulation of the news. Sources familiar with the situation in Fox's Washington bureau have told Media Matters that Sammon uses his position as managing editor to "slant" Fox's supposedly neutral news coverage to the right. Sammon's "government option" email is the clearest evidence yet that Sammon is aggressively pushing Fox's reporting to the right -- in this case by issuing written orders to his staff.
